Tattoo Aftercare.

The aftercare of your tattoo will greatly determine the way your tattoo will look once it has fully healed as well as how it ages over the years.
This advice is based on how I take care of my personal tattoos, what I have seen works or my clients in the time I have been tattooing. However over time you will come to know what routine and products work best for you.

Second Skin

- Keep film on for 2-3 days. If it breaks, leaks, pops, replace or remove.
- With clean hands, remove your second skin by soaking it with warm water and peel downwards slowly.
- Pat dry with paper towel (do not rub)
- Give your piece some time to dry before placing a minimal amount of aftercare cream/balm. It can be beneficial to wait 24 hrs before using any balms.
- Your new tattoo is an open wound and needs to be treated as such.only touch with clean hands.
- Continue to use fragrance free wash/tattoo wash and warm water to clean your tattoo.
- Repeat process until the tattoo is fully healed, minimising the amount of balm you use a your tattoo heals.

Things to Remember

- Your new tattoo is an open wound and needs to be treated as such.only touch with clean hands.
- Avoid direct contact with animals.
- Your tattoo isn’t completely safe from germs and bacteria until it has completely finished scabbing and peeling. continue to wash the tattoo until this point (2-4 weeks)
- It might get itchy as it heals, don’t scratch, pick or pull at the flaking/scabbing skin. this will delay healing, cause fading and increase chance of infection.
- Stay away from the sun and do not expose your new tattoo to intense sunlight or apply sun lotion until tattoo is fully healed.
- Avoid swimming and submerging your tattoo in water. stay clear of bodies of water as they can contain nasty bacteria that can ruin your new tattoo if not careful. stick to short showers until your skin is fully healed.
- Skin and blood infections are very real and can be deadly
- Keep tattoo clean, dry but hydrated (with minimal balm).
